Symptoms like chest pain, dizziness or shortness of breath are all signs something may be going on with your heart. Our team works together to find and fix the issue, using innovative testing and expert knowledge.
We treat a wide range of conditions, including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation (AFib), peripheral artery disease and valve disease.
Our experts will develop a treatment plan tailored to your lifestyle, needs and preferences. We’ll discuss all of your treatment options — ranging from medications to surgery.
A team approach to heart health
We believe you get better care when you have a team of heart and vascular specialists working together. Your care team may include cardiologists, heart surgeons, vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists and others.
We also collaborate with other specialists across our health system to make sure you get the best care possible. This could include pediatric cardiologists for children or onco-cardiologists who specialize in heart care during cancer treatment.
We use the most up-to-date research and combined knowledge to recommend the best care plan for you.
Preventative care and early diagnostics
Plaque buildup in your blood vessels or other problems that affect your heart health don’t always cause clear symptoms. We offer screening tests that determine how well your heart is working. Our goal is to detect heart and vascular issues earlier when they are easier to treat.
Leaders in heart and vascular research
Our heart and vascular providers actively lead and participate in clinical trials and research. This means that you could be among the first to receive innovative treatments for heart and vascular problems.
Fast treatment for severe emergencies, 24/7
As a Level I trauma center, we provide care around the clock for medical emergencies. That’s especially important when you are having a heart attack — where every second counts.
We’ll get you through the emergency department and into a cardiac catheterization lab quickly. Our team will then unblock the artery that is causing your heart attack. On average, it takes 47 minutes to receive this lifesaving care at MU Health Care — well below the national goal of 90 minutes.
Improving your quality of life
We know that heart and vascular conditions affect your quality of life. Our goal is to help you feel better and begin to live a fuller, healthier life. We’ll do this through a wide range of treatments — from medication and lifestyle changes to minimally invasive and open surgeries.
