Body Contouring
Body contouring is another name for a group of procedures performed together to address several targeted areas on your body, most commonly using liposuction. Liposuction for body contouring can be done on the arms, back, abdomen, bra line, inner and outer thighs, hips and neck.
How body contouring works
During your initial appointment, your surgeon will answer your questions, discuss the risks and benefits of liposuction, and help you decide whether liposuction is right for you and where. In general, candidates for liposuction are:
- Near or at their goal body weight, as large changes in weight can affect body appearance after liposuction
- Non-smokers, or able to quit smoking for six weeks before and after surgery
- Not pregnant
- Without serious heart or lung conditions
Liposuction is a minimally invasive treatment. This means it uses very small cuts to insert sterilized tubes, called cannulas, to remove body fat. Our surgeons will recommend incision locations to minimize or conceal scarring.
Body contouring recovery
The most common side effect of liposuction is rippling or undesired contours under the skin. To prevent this our team will provide you with compression wraps or sleeves. Please use compression at the site of your procedures at all times and for as long as your surgeon recommends, which may be six weeks or longer.
We will ask you to schedule a follow-up appointment two weeks after your procedure, continuing every two to three months until you are fully healed and you have achieved your desired look.
