Research Profile

Orthopaedic oncology is a rare specialty. These clinicians investigate and treat tumors of the musculoskeletal system: the body parts such as bones, muscles and connective tissue that give humans the ability to move. Evenski is one of only 200 such practitioners in the nation. She also has expertise in bone and soft tissue tumors in adults and children, as well as in surgical joint replacement.

In addition to her time in the clinic, Evenski conducts research in the laboratory. She searches for insights on how cancer spreads to bones through renal (kidney) cells. Additionally, she examines the viability of using positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to evaluate soft tissue tumors and to predict how they will grow.

Evenski has received numerous honors for her work, including a special recognition from the Department of Health and Human Services. She is an orthopaedic oncology reviewer on several journals, among them Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and the Journal of Knee Surgery.

Dr. Andrea Evenski is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery in the School of Medicine and a clinician at the Missouri Orthopedic Institute.
