Abdulaziz Ahmed, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training as a specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Ahmed’s expertise includes shoulder and elbow replacement, complex reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder instability corrections, tendon transfers and the treatment of scapular disorders such as winging and dyskinesia.

Dr. Ahmed chose to become a doctor because he is fascinated by the human body and how it works, and chose to practice sports medicine because it combined problem-solving challenges with his passion for hands-on skills to help patients regain mobility and return to the activities they love. Dr. Ahmed brings compassion and a patient-centered approach to care, personalizing his treatments to each person’s unique needs and goals because no two people are the same.

Beyond his professional career, Dr. Ahmed values time with his family and enjoys soccer, swimming and playing tennis regularly.

Abdulaziz Ahmed, MD, is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and a dedicated surgeon-scientist who focuses on advancing care for shoulder and elbow conditions. His current research centers on patient-reported outcomes following shoulder surgeries, aiming to identify key predictors of success and failure in shoulder replacements and related procedures. Dr. Ahmed also conducts biomechanical and cadaveric studies to innovate and refine surgical techniques, collaborating closely with sports and orthopaedic surgeons, biostatisticians and biomedical engineers.

Dr. Ahmed has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed original research articles and contributed to multiple book chapters in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery. He is an editorial board member of Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, a leading publication in the field, and has served as a peer reviewer for several top orthopaedic journals, maintaining his active engagement at the forefront of orthopaedic advancements.
