Community celebration commemorates completion of integration process
MU Health Care leaders and employees gathered today in Jefferson City to commemorate the completion of full integration of Capital Region Medical Center with MU Health Care with a community celebration event.
The process of integrating Capital Region Medical Center and MU Health Care began last June and was completed on Jan. 1.
Capital Region Medical Center and MU Health Care are now unified under one brand: MU Health Care. Capital Region Medical Center remains the name of the Jefferson City hospital, while clinic and facility names will follow MU Health Care naming conventions.
While their affiliation dates back more than 25 years, full integration combines the strengths of a community health system with the expertise of a premier academic health system.
“The health care industry has evolved since our affiliation began more than two decades ago,” said Nim Chinniah, University of Missouri’s Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs. “When we looked at the health care landscape throughout the country, we observed that increasing integration of community hospitals with larger health systems was creating more efficient and sustainable models of care. That inspired our mutual decision to evolve this relationship.”
Integration strengthens both health systems, offering a path forward for growth and expansion of services. MU Health Care has already begun adding specialty services at Capital Regional Medical Center, including a neurosurgical spine clinic, bariatric surgery and a non-invasive spine procedure clinic.
“We are proud to bring these services to the Jefferson City community and look forward to building on them,” said Ric Ransom, CEO, MU Health Care. “We are truly better together and will continue to serve the community of mid-Missouri and ensure access to quality health care close to home for years to come.”
Leaders and employees gathered at Capital Region Medical Center to celebrate the full integration. Employees of Capital Region Medical Center became employees of MU Health Care as of Jan. 1. Physicians will have full privileges at Capital Region Medical Center and at all other MU Health Care facilities, such as University Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital.
