Transition is part of project to integrate services on a centralized hospital campus
MU Health Care is opening a new entrance specifically for pediatric patients requiring emergency care at the Children’s Emergency Room located at University Hospital.
The new entrance, which will open on Tuesday, Aug. 16 is located on the west side of University Hospital along Deans Drive. Upon arrival, parking is offered in designated spots within the Tiger Avenue Parking Structure adjacent to the new entrance.
The recently opened Children’s Emergency Room at University Hospital offers the same kid-friendly services as the previous location on Keene Street, including child life services and a facility dog. Additionally, the new space is solely dedicated to children with kid-specific care teams, equipment and décor.
The move is part of the effort to create a centralized hospital campus. The health system broke ground in October 2021 on a new tower to house its Children’s Hospital and Birthing Center, which are scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2024 on the main MU Health Care campus.
