Drive-thru, extended hours and walk-in clinics planned for September and October across central Missouri

MU Health Care will offer ten flu and COVID vaccination clinics across central Missouri in September and October.

Drive-thru vaccination events on Sept. 28, Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 at South Providence Medical Park in Columbia will offer car-side flu shots to adults and kids 6 months and older from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Updated COVID vaccines will be available for adults and children 5 years of age and older.

In addition to the drive-thru dates in Columbia, MU Health Care is also hosting a drive-thru event in Fulton on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. until noon at Fulton Family Health, located at 26133 Fairway Dr.

A walk-in vaccination event will be held in Jefferson City on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. until noon inside the Madison Street Medical Building next to Capital Region Medical Center.

October extended hours events are scheduled in Ashland, Boonville, Mexico and Fayette. A complete list of MU Health Care’s vaccination events and locations is available at muhealth.org/flu.

For the drive-thru events, patients are asked to wear loose clothing and short sleeves if possible; this is especially important for young children who will get the shot in the thigh. All patients should bring an insurance card and will be asked to review and sign a consent form before receiving a vaccination in their vehicle. MU Health Care employees should bring their badge.

“Our drive-thru flu shot events have become extremely popular since launching during the pandemic and continue to grow each year,” said MU Health Care Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laura Morris. “We are so pleased to offer this convenient option in hopes of reducing serious respiratory illnesses and hospitalizations during the winter months.”

Dr. Laura Morris is co-chair of the MU Health Care vaccination committee and a family medicine physician at MU Health Care’s Callaway Physicians clinic in Fulton. She attended medical school and completed residency at the MU School of Medicine. She also holds a Master of Science degree in public health from MU and completed a fellowship in Vaccine Science through the American Academy of Family Physicians.
