12th annual Jay Dix Challenge to Cure

Flat Branch Park in Columbia

Three different events will be offered for all levels: a 5k walk, a 5k run, and a 10k run. All proceeds from the race will benefit Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. The Challenge to Cure has raised nearly $170,000 for cancer research since 2003.

In 2014, the Challenge to Cure has partnered with the COMO Kids Challenge, which is part of the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness. On race day, almost 200 children will complete their final mile of 26 miles to complete their yearlong commitment to themselves and to the community to become involved in volunteering, reading and fitness.

14th annual Deon Starman Memorial Golf Tournament

All proceeds from the two-person best ball tournament will benefit Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. This event is dedicated to the honor and memory of Deon Starman. It was Deon’s wish to have this tournament mature and contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
