Places to Stay
With Your Child
At MU Children's Hospital, we understand the need for you to be close to your child while he or she is hospitalized. All patient rooms at Children's Hospital are equipped with a sleeper sofa for parents to spend the night.
To ensure the safety of our patients and visitors, we lock all doors after regular visiting hours, and we have implemented additional after-hours visiting rules from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. All overnight visitors must check in with security or a hospitality coordinator by 9 p.m. for an overnight-visitor identification badge. All overnight visitors must be 18 or older.
Visitors may sleep only in the sleeper sofas provided by the hospital. Please do not sleep in windowsills, obstruct lights, move waiting area furniture or use electrical appliances. No inflatable mattresses, cots, sleeping bags or other bedding from outside the hospital.
Waiting areas on inpatient floors are designated "quiet areas" from 10:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. After 10:30 p.m., televisions must be turned off and visitors may watch TV in the Oasis restaurant.
NICU visitors generally are not allowed to stay overnight in the hospital. We believe it is in the best interest of the parents to get adequate rest. For more information, please talk to the NICU social worker.
Staying Off Site
For loved ones not sleeping in a patient's room, an online listing of hotels is available in the Related Links section to the left. Some hotels offer discounts to families of patients at Children's Hospital.
If you are staying in a nearby hotel, the Ronald McDonald House or at home, please provide your child's nurse with a telephone number where you may be reached.
You are welcome to call during the night to speak with the nurse to get an update on your child's condition.
