COLUMBIA, Mo. — University Physicians-Green Meadows Family Medicine Clinic will offer a diabetes management class beginning Monday, June 1, at the Green Meadows Family Medicine Clinic, 3217 South Providence Road. The four-week class will meet weekly from 2 to 4 pm. in the Green Meadows Family Medicine Classroom and focus on helping participants better understand and manage their diabetes. The American Diabetes Association estimates 23 million children and adults in the United States are living with diabetes. Nearly one-third of those people are not aware they have the disease. For those who are aware, diabetes can bring about drastic lifestyle changes. With the help of registered dietician Scottie Rawlings, R.D., and advanced practice nurse Melba Hall, C.D.E., this class will help diabetics develop meal plans, eat healthier and monitor blood glucose levels.
