University of Missouri Health Care News Releases
University Hospital To Conduct Emergency Preparedness Drill Today

COLUMBIA, Mo. ― University of Missouri Health Care, along with the MU Police Department and the Columbia Police Department, will conduct an emergency preparedness drill involving a simulated armed intruder scenario from approximately 1:50 to 4 p.m. today (Monday, March 11) in University Hospital’s new patient care tower.

“The safety of our patients, visitors and staff is our top priority,” said Randy Boehm, manager of security services at MU Health Care. “Preparedness exercises, particularly those that are simulations, are very beneficial because they provide training and feedback for real-life scenarios.”

“MU Health Care’s Department of Emergency Preparedness conducts numerous drills and training exercises throughout the year,” said Chris Smith, manager of communications and emergency preparedness at MU Health Care. “Because our facility is new, we have a rare opportunity to conduct this type of training before the building is opened to patients.”
