Whitt Named Chief Medical Officer Of University Of Missouri Health System
COLUMBIA, Mo. –Stevan P.Whitt, M.D., FACP, has been appointed chief medical officer of the University of Missouri Health System and senior associate dean for clinical affairs in the MU School of Medicine, effective Nov. 1.
Whitt, a critical care specialist at University Hospital, received his M.D. degree from MU in 1994. He currently serves as chief of staff for University Hospital and Clinics and chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the MU School of Medicine.
As chief medical officer, Whitt will be responsible for providing physician leadership to promote the provision of quality patient care at all MU Health Care facilities.
Whitt completed a residency in internal medicine in and fellowships in infectious diseases and critical care medicine, all at the MU School of Medicine. He is board-certified in neurocritical care, as well.
An associate professor of clinical medicine in the Divisions of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Environmental Medicine, and Infectious Diseases, Whitt also serves as director of the Organ Donation Team for the University of Missouri Health System.
Whitt has received numerous honors and awards during his tenure at the School of Medicine, including the “Outstanding Faculty Teacher” award in 2011-2012, 2009-2010, 2008-2009, 2007-2008, 2006-2007, 2005-2006 and 2002-2003.
