MU Dermatologists Offer Free Skin Cancer Screenings
COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri Health Care dermatologists will offer skin cancer screenings from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.
Screening services will be located in the MO-Ag Theatre. The screenings are free and open to the public.
“This year is the 25th anniversary of the National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Screening Program through the American Academy of Dermatology,” said Karen Edison, M.D., chair of the Department of Dermatology at MU Missouri Health Care. “The goal of this program, which on a local level is part of our commitment to community outreach, is to save lives. And we have no doubt that there are individuals alive today because they received skin cancer screening. In many cases, early detection is an important factor in surviving skin cancer.”
Participating dermatologists from MU Health Care include Edison, Dana Ward, Jon Dyer, Nicholas Golda and Ronald Wheeland. Participating dermatology chief resident physicians from MU Health Care include Kari Martin, Jeffrey Graves and David Fieleke.
