COLUMBIA, Mo. — In recognition of March 14 through March 20 as National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week, University of Missouri Health Care will hold free community pulmonary screenings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Gerbes Supermarket Pharmacy, 1729 W. Broadway in Columbia.

Health care experts will be on location at Gerbes to:

• Assess lung health through breathing tests
• Assess for obstructive sleep apnea and health risks associated with the condition
• Calculate body mass index and body fat percentage
• Screen for high blood pressure

People experiencing shortness of breath or difficulty breathing during daily activities are encouraged to attend. Health care experts will assist in exercise training, education and behavioral modifications that may help patients control their shortness of breath and function independently

The pulmonary screening event is free and open to the public. No appointment is necessary to participate.
