Speech Therapy

Our speech therapists provide patient centered care in collaboration with referring providers and other clinical practitioners. Our mission is to help patients achieve their goals, while improving their functional status and quality of life.

We provide speech therapy services related to a variety of medical conditions such as:
Voice Services

  • Speaking voice therapy
  • Singing voice intervention
  • Professional communication enhancement
  • Voice abuse reduction with voice disorders
  • Vocal hygiene counseling
  • Paradoxical vocal cord movement disorder treatment
  • LSVT®

Swallowing Services

  • Diet modification recommendation and counseling
  • Behavioral modification for eating and drinking (e.g. posture, bite size, etc).\
  • Electrical stimulation therapy

Speech therapists or Speech Language Pathologists are experts in regaining speech, language and swallowing skills that can become impaired when hospitalized. As part of University Hospital we have Speech Therapist that specialize to provide care to a variety of medical services including trauma, orthopedic, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, family practice, general medicine, oncology and burn/wounds. Speech therapist work with patients at the bedside but also work with the physician team to provide diagnostic testing of swallowing abilities.
