International Cafe - Lentil Soup

1 1/2 lb of lentils
1/2   lb spinach
1 big onion chopped
 2 1/2 tbs tomato paste
2ts black pepper
2ts cinnamon
2ts turmeric
1 1/2 salt

1. Soak the lentils for about one hour.
2. Brown the onion in olive oil.
3. Add tomato paste and spices.
4. Add lentils and cover with water
5. Cook for about 45-min to an hour
