General Internal Medicine
The physicians and staff in the division of General Internal Medicine strive to fulfill the division's five-part mission of excellence in clinical care delivery, education, research, professionalism and diversity by providing the highest quality ambulatory and inpatient care, and distinguished teaching through innovative educational and learning program development, and scholarly clinical research.
University of Missouri Health Care's department of Internal Medicine is a national leader among academic internal medicine departments through quality and innovation in patient care, research and education. Our physicians and staff embolden the system's mission and goals to benefit patients, physicians, students and the communities we serve. Our physicians participate in institutional initiatives related to educational program development, clinical development, and educational research to improve health outcomes and strengthen training for future clinicians. Collaborative research activities, conducted with other established University of Missouri School of Medicine departments and affiliated hospitals and clinics, address clinical effectiveness, quality of care, medical leadership development and curriculum enhancement. Our research improves diagnostic and therapeutic decision making, quality and safety of health care, and medical informatics and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Our physicians serve as clinic and hospital based clinicians. They practice at University Physicians-Fairview and University Physicians-Woodrail clinics, where they also supervise residents and medical students. Our Hospitalists oversee hospitalized patients and provide consultation services at University Hospital, Columbia Regional Hospital and Rusk Rehabilitation Center. In addition, our General Internal Medicine physicians provide ambulatory and inpatient care at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administration Hospital.
I welcome the opportunity to provide more information about the department's activities and share our vision and strategic plan for the future.
