Cardiac intensive Care Unit (CICU)
The CICU is a state-of-the-art, 18-bed intensive care unit dedicated to the care of patients with acute cardiac disorders, including acute myocardial infarction and acute coronary syndromes, complex arrhythmia, and advanced heart failure. Acutely ill Cardiothoracic Surgery patients, including those who have just undergone open-heart procedures, are also cared for in the CICU. All CICU beds are completely equipped for invasive hemodynamic monitoring and management, including pulmonary artery catheterization and intra-aortic balloon pump placement.
The CICU is staffed by a dedicated team of nurse specialists. An attending cardiologist, a cardiology fellow, residents, and medical students make daily rounds on all patients in the CICU.
