While no one wants to discover he or she has the disease, there is peace of mind in knowing a comprehensive cancer center right here in mid-Missouri offers a unique combination leading-edge research and treatments, along with warm, compassionate care.

The first cancer center west of the Mississippi, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center opened in 1940, when chemotherapy was just beginning to be widely used.

Ellis Fischel is on the cusp of transformation as University of Missouri Health Care begins building a new, state-of-the-art cancer center in the heart of the MU Health Care campus. The first two floors of the patient care tower will be devoted to the cancer center and will be constructed to accommodate the demands of a modern cancer center.
